The Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) launched the nation’s largest direct-install program to provide accessible EV charging infrastructure to disadvantaged communities across Sacramento County. This groundbreaking initiative aimed to reduce emissions, expand EV adoption, and bridge the equity gap in clean transportation access for residential customers in underserved areas.
The principals of Encharge personally led the engagement with SMUD, leveraging their expertise in EV infrastructure and project management to establish Loop Global as the exclusive supplier for SMUD’s direct-install program. Over the past three years, this partnership has resulted in the deployment of over 1,500 Level 2 charging stations, significantly improving access to EV charging for disadvantaged residential customers in Sacramento County.
